An ATC Project called “Water”

The month of May I hosted a ATC trade project on Wet Canvas titled "Water". Anything to do with in, on, by, about, or under water.

The response was very good indeed with a plethora of original ideas. Whether I was as original or not is not for me to judge. I shall let you do that.

A quay is a splendid to find subjects for this project.  After all it is all about water.  There is plenty just laying about that make interesting paintings. Bollards, buoys, rope, chains and anchors.

There is no absence of colour on a fishing wharf or quay.  I liked the bollard and buoy depicted in my second painting.

8 Bollard&buoy

I found the lovely bright pink colour of the buoy near a boat just right for the project.

5 Dohni  Did I mention I used to dive?  Of course I did.  In the course of this pursuit we were privileged to visit some exotic places.  This painting is of a dhoni, a local Maldivian dive boat.  On this occasion we anchored in shallow water near the proverbial desert island for a picnic lunch.

Of course it is under water that we encountered some more colourful subjects and clown fish were my husbands favourites so they were subjects of a couple cards. 17 Red clown copy Wonderfully colourful and very brave fish as they would make a  defensive move at you when you come too close, but dive quickly back into the fingers of its protective symbiotic anemone.  11 Seafan&flamingotonges

A sea fan with creatures! The colours found underwater are so vivid.  However, to enjoy them it is best in shallow water.  In deeper water you will need a strong torch.

16 BluemaskB´flyfish copy Blue masked butterfly fish dart around the coral reef!  Always seen in pairs, so a single one is single, sad, she says tongue in cheek.

Anchorshank

Anchor shank with chain.

All cards are 2.5 x3.5 inches, all are watercolours.
