We went to Orba today to buy two new lances for our sprayers. As the Pollo Asado, in our favourite Bar al Carrer is extremely tasty, the plan was to go into the town centre, have a drink and then take home the luscious spit roasted chicken packed with herbs and lemon. No cooking tonight and it will do us two meals!
We weren't to know it was Bull running week in Orba. The street was lined with the heavy bull running cages. Cages that are for the bull runners to retreat to, and the less adventurous to hide in.
Mind you the street was not empty. We would have to make our way, going cage to cage past the "raging bulls" in the middle of that street, to just past that barrier that looks like steps. Well, they are steps actually that the runners run up to a platform at the top, out of reach of those long sharp horns. Sometimes a clever bull runs up them too... whoops! and it is a quick retreat into the cages that line the street or climb the ramps you see on the left. You need to be quick and nimble in this game.

I am safe inside the cage here as this young bull decides which way to go and his best chances of hooking someone!
Is that a Mexican stand-off I see?
Oh, okay, TAKE THAT!
We finally make our way to the bar, having to cross at one point, but the bull was at the other end of the street. My husband who had had a fall recently didn't look he could be very quick and nimble with an arm in a sling and walking stick. It is surprising how quickly you can walk with a stick!
The bar was cool and not crowded so it was a respite from the hot glaring street.
(Note the mural on the wall.)
Once inside the cool bar we had a drink while we waited for our chicken.
An ice cold lager on a hot day, mmm rather nice.

Thank you to my husband Pat, for some of the photos here. Yes, he can take photos with his arm in a sling.
We were both armed with our trusty small digital cameras ready for any photo opportunity.

That is enough to add some excitement to your visit to town. At least it was not as extreme as Pamplona :o)
